Throughout Fall 2022, we will be primarily focusing on data science projects. According to your preferences, you will be paired with groups of 3-6 students to work on client-based projects that span from 4-6 weeks. The scope and complexity vary by project, but teams may use data visualizations, statistical inference, and machine learning, to name a few, to address clients' problem statements. Our partnering clients range from on-campus units to local startups and businesses. While we are still devising and finalizing the materials, you can expect resources such as tutorials, workshops, and office hours to help prepare you and guide you through the projects.

Literally anyone! We pride ourselves on our inclusiveness, and as long as you are willing to commit and complete a few prerequisites (e.g., training materials, informational interviews), you will be eligible to participate in Portlab projects anytime, anywhere.

You can choose to join whatever number of projects you wish to and whenever you desire! We will try our best to keep them coming:) Generally speaking, each project will last for 4-6 weeks and take up 4-6 hours per week per person. We will be holding occasional workshops and office hours, but nothing is mandatory! Participation in these additional events will not affect your chances of being matched with projects.
